2026-2027 O.C.I.A. Session

The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (O.C.I.A.), formerly called Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.), is the process that welcomes you to join the Catholic faith community and introduces you to the beliefs and practices of the Church.  If you are not baptized, the process leads to the reception of the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.  If you are Baptized in another Christian tradition, the process invites you to participate fully in the church through the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist.  It also prepares you for the Sacrament of Penance/Reconciliation.

Who is it for?

• Those who want to convert to Catholicism.
• Those who want to learn more about the Catholic faith.
• Catholics who need to prepare for a missed sacrament, such as Confirmation.
• Catholics who would like a refresher course on the basics of Catholicism.

At each O.C.I.A. session we spend time answering your questions about the Catholic faith, reviewing the Scripture readings from Mass, and discussing the current chapter in our book.  The most important element is getting your questions about the Catholic faith answered.  The next O.C.I.A. session starts on September 20, 2026 and continues each Sunday through May 16, 2027.  We will meet on Sunday mornings from 11:30AM-12:30PM in the Parish Library.  If you are interested in joining, please contact Mike James, Director of Catechetical Ministry / Director of O.C.I.A., at mjames@nativitycatholic.org to be added to the upcoming class list.

March 21, 2027 - Palm Sunday - Mass at 10:30 AM / Easter Vigil Rehearsal (with Sponsors) - 11:30 AM

March 25, 2027 - Holy Thursday Mass - 6:00 PM

March 26, 2027 - Good Friday Service - 2:00 PM

March 27, 2027 - Easter Vigil (with Sponsors) - 8:00 PM. Arrive at 7:00 PM to arrange for seating.

March 28, 2027 - Easter Sunday - no Class

April 4, 2027 - Mystagogia Class #1
